Jesus died for you. He died so you - so WE - in all our sin, in all our pain and shortcomings, could one day stand in the presence of God, by offering Himself as a sacrifice for the Grace of God. In His Death and Resurrection, He has given us the chance to change, the chance to LIVE. He 'tore the veil' separating us from God by becoming the ultimate sacrifice needed to atone (make right) our sins. He did all this - He suffered, He died, He taught in Hell for 3 days apart from God's Spirit, and finally rose again, a victor over death and the Devil - all for YOU.
Romans
1:4-5
And
Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised
him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us
the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles (outsiders, unbelievers)
everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him,
bringing glory to His name.
Romans
6:8-11
Now
if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know
that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no
longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for
all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves
dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus

Peter 1:13-25
Therefore,
preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on
the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As
obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former
ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Matthew
20:28
"The
Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many"
Hebrews
2:14-15
Since
the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that
by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the
devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of
death.
1
Peter 2:24
He
himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and
live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
1
Peter 3:18
For
Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring
you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
1
John 2:2
He
is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for
the sins of the whole world.
